Air Lift ALP4 Air Management System: All You Need To Know

Air Lift just dropped their most advanced air management system yet and we're here for it. Introducing the ALP4, a system designed by Air Lift to replace the ever popular 3P and 3H control systems. Whether you're chasing show level fitment or fine tuned air suspension control, Air Lift has always been one of the most popular options. The ALP4 is Air Lift's next evolution of air ride control and we're here to talk about all the new features and what to expect!

What is the Air Lift ALP4?

The ALP4 from Air Lift is a pressure-based air management system that brings together modern hardware, smarter algorithms, and extra customization to the interior of your ride. From a redesigned full color touchscreen controller to a new manifold design with customizable RGB lighting, this system was made with customization in mind.

Looking for even more accuracy? An optional height sensor upgrade kit (P/N 27705) lets you convert the standard pressure based ALP4 into a full height based system.

What's new with the ALP4 when compared to the 3P?

Air Lift tweaked a few things here, and overhauled a few things there. Here's what's new and what really stands out when compared to the aging but ever popular 3P.

  • Full-color touchscreen controller: 3.5" display with four programmable buttons and anodized aluminum housing
  • Plug-and-play wiring: This isn't necessarily new but it's an important one to cover. Air Lift's ALP4 integrates with EXISTING 3P power harnesses, so if you already have a 3P and you're looking to upgrade to the latest and greatest control system from Air Lift, they've really got you covered. Honestly it's so nice to see Air Lift watching out for past customers while making the transition to their new setup as seamless as possible.
  • Custom LED Lighting: New customizable RGB LED lighting is available on both the controller and the manifold. Match the colors to the interior of your car, or go wild with an accent color of your choice. That's just it... it's your choice and Air Lift understands that full customization is what we as enthusiasts really want.
  • New Mobile App: With a redesigned interface that is easier to use and will work better with a more reliable connection (thanks to the manifold's updated wireless protocol). Really looking forward to seeing how the long term reviews go with this one. App development isn't easy and nailing that perfect connection and optimization between a million different mobile devices is no easy task. And yeah… there are more phones out there other than iPhones ya goons. Shouts to my Android fam.

Smarter and Faster - The ALP4 Internals:

Looks are where it's at but what's under the hood is just as important. Here's some of the more technical changes you can expect when compared to the 3P.

  • Faster Processor: 3.5x faster than previous systems with 20x more RAM. More is better, we all know that. 3P was no slouch with very limited screen lag so the ALP4 should be pretty zippy as well.
  • Improved Learning Algorithm: No more need to calibrate when you make changes. As many of you know, the 3P really loved the calibration sequence for it to be as accurate as possible. Nice to see we won't need to calibrate as often when making changes to our setups.
  • Road filtering tech: Air Lift introduced updated algorithms that help reduce "hunting" for presets when driving around. Personally, I thought the 3P was pretty damned good at hitting preset heights so it's great to see Air Lift making some more strides here as well.
  • Compressor Performance Test: Ever wonder if your compressor was about to call it a good life? Well now you can actually run a compressor performance test through the ALP4 system that allows you to monitor and benchmark compressor efficiency over time. Thank. You.
  • Valet Mode: I mean, who really lets others drive their car anyway… maybe the beater, but I digress. If you do let others drive your ride this one's for you. This mode lets you lock out the system at a preset height so that you can rest assured Mom's not gonna crush your fenders stunting for all her homies at the wine bar.
  • Updated show mode: Allows full use of the system with the vehicle off for one ignition cycle. Perfect for getting that perfect stance from outside of the car without it running.
  • Adjustable pulse rate and slow lift range: Set your own pulse speeds to allow for quicker or slower suspension adjustment, right from the controller. Air Lift also gives you the ability to dial in a "slow lift range" which lets you fine tune your suspension speeds for tighter control at lower, more critical heights. Nothing's worse than running ⅜" lines and trying to dial in that perfect lip to fender fitment at the show without slapping those fenders onto your lips. We're all gonna like this feature…

Add-ons and Upgrades:

  • Height sensor upgrade kit (P/N 27705): Convert the ALP4 into a full height based system with a height sensor add-on kit. And no, it's not called the ALH4 then. There is no more H (RIP 3H).
  • Second Compressor Harness (P/N 27703): Want to run dual compressors? Just like the 3P, you need to add an additional wire harness but luckily Air Lift makes this an easy task. So yeah, grab a second compressor, grab this harness, and you're good to go.

Final Thoughts:

Air Lift's ALP4 adds some nice new features that we've been waiting for, some others that we didn't see coming, and plenty of the classics that made their 3P control system as popular as it is. We're stoked to see these out in the wild and what you guys really think of them.
